Hotel Michelangelo opened in the late sixties in a privileged location 100 metres from the sea and just 500 metres from the town centre, in the hotel district of Milano Marittima – a celebrated seaside resort on the Riviera Romagnola, whose beaches and accommodation make it the undisputed capital of glamour, fun and shopping.

The development of Milano Marittima began back in the early years of the 20th century, when Cervia was a small town with a population of just 9,000 and a local economy based largely on the traditional business of salt production. In 1907 an agreement was drawn up between Cervia Town Council and one of Milan’s most influential business families.  The Council ceded a vast area of the coastline to the Milanese company, which undertook to build villas, parks and gardens in order to create a new seaside resort.  The development was christened Milano Marittima, a name that underlined its strong links with Milan. In 1927 Cervia was recognised as a “Resort of Health, Leisure and Tourism“, thanks partly to the contribution of the new development of Milano Marittima; and from that year on, work began on the first hotels, holiday complexes and restaurants, alongside the villas already being built in the pine forest.

With a multitude of events organised for the entertainment and diversion of tourists, modern seaside facilities and the many top fashion names who have opened trend-setting boutiques, clubs and discos here, Milano Marittima rapidly consolidated its fame as “the place to be” on the Riviera Romagnola, frequented by VIPs and celebrities from the world of television.

Hotel Michelangelo is completely surrounded by a flower-filled garden with fabulous centuries-old pine trees; this is the perfect spot to breathe the sea air in total relaxation. And here, among a harmony of light, colour and fragrances that inspire calm, slow rhythms, the holiday begins…

Hotel Michelangelo is closely linked to the land and its traditions: hospitality in this region springs from the human warmth of its inhabitants. People with style and values like the Brugnara family, owners of the hotel, who continually innovate, year after year, to offer their guests something new every time.

With an ambience that combines classic with modern, Hotel Michelangelo offers guests every comfort and service: self-regulated air conditioning, telephone, LCD TV with pay TV and Premium channels, safe deposit box, free WiFi, minibar, electric shutters, fitness equipment, free bicycle use, extensive swimming pool, discounts for the beach, car parking.

In an area with a great culinary tradition, it is natural and proper that we should take enormous pride in our cooking. Chef Giovanni Caracciolo prepares dishes whose roots are in traditional Romagna cuisine, adding a touch of French charm.

Last but not least, at the Michelangelo we are delighted to welcome your inseparable four-legged friends: they can enjoy their holiday by your side!
